Mission Statement

The mission of the Garden Of Discovery Learning Center is to provide a quality Christian Education by teaching the ABC’s: Academic Excellence, Biblical Foundation and Cultural Affirmation through a diverse curriculum rooted in a God-centered view of life. In establishing the Garden Of Discovery Learning Center, and in partnership with families, we will nurture our children’s development spiritually, academically, socially, and, behaviorally by teaching and speaking the truth so that they will in all things, grow up into Him, who is the head, that is Christ (Ephesians 4:15).

Vision Statement

The Garden Of Discovery Learning Center believes it is critical to give children a solid base for educational skills in early development, and to combine that with a solid Christian foundation to prepare them for works of service in Christ’s Church and in the world (Ephesians 4:11-16). Our vision then is to establish a Christian school where children will develop spiritually, academically, socially, and behaviorally, so they will mature into lifelong learners and achievers. Our students will learn Christian values and principles which will serve as life skills to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Philosophy Statement:

They came to Capernaum. When He was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road? But they kept quiet because on the way they argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all”. He took a little child and let him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, He said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name receives me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the One who sent me” (Mark 9:33-37).

As Jesus affirmed children, so must we affirm our children if they are to develop into healthy, productive adults. For too long we have kept quiet while numerous destructive forces threaten to destroy our children. GODLC is a Christian School in an urban setting that exists to provide a quality education and nurture children spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. We believe in a Christian education. And that the Word of God must be integrated into all aspects of learning for a child. So that he will learn the truth and know the truth. Every child will need his education to be consistent, whether he is at home, at church, or at school. All of his training must be centered on truth, God’s truth.

Faith Statement

We believe that the Old and New Testament are the divinely inspired and authoritative Word of God, without error. In the Bible, we find God’s revelation of the way for humanity to be reconciled to God through salvation and divine authority for living out the Christian life. (Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5,6; Matthew 5:18; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12)

We believe that there is only one true and living God, who is the creator and sustainer of all things. God is sovereign, and there is no power equal to Him. God eternally exists in three persons – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (the Trinity), each equal yet performing distinct but harmonious functions in the work of redemption. (Genesis 1-2; Psalm 147:5; Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19; John 10:30; Romans 1:20; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe that Christ Jesus is God’s Son and the flesh manifestation of God in the world. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. He bodily arose from the dead, ascended to heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God interceding as our high priest and advocate. (Matthew1:18-23; John 1:1-14; Acts 1:1-9; 2:29-33; I Corinthians 15:3,4; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 4:15; 10:5-10)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the abiding agent of Christ Jesus, released to all believers at the moments of salvation to convict, correct, inspire and instruct. At the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit gives every believer a spiritual gift to be used in service in the body of Christ. (John 3:1-8; 14:15-18, 25-27; 16:5-16; Acts 1:5,8; I Corinthians 12:7-11)

We believe that humanity was created in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character; but through willful choice, humanity fell into sin, causing fellowship with God to be broken. The substitutionary death and the resurrection of Jesus provided the means to reconciliation and restoration with God. (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:16 – 3:24; John 3:16)

We believe that Salvation is God’s free grace gift, made available to all humanity by the gospel, but it must be accepted by faith. Professing faith in Christ Jesus alone, for forgiveness of sins, is the only way that sinful humanity can be saved from the penalty of sin. (John 3:16; Acts2:21; Romans 3:23,24;6:23; 10:3-11; Ephesians 2:8-9; Revelation 3:20)

We believe that all believers who have been genuinely saved through faith in Christ Jesus cannot lose their salvation. They are eternally secure, because salvation is maintained by God’s grace and power alone. (John 3:16; 10:27-30; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Ephesians 1:13,14; Philippians 1:6)
